All eyes on Murmu vs Sinha battle! Polling begins to elect the 15th President of India

The polling has begun in the Parliament and respective state Assemblies to elect the 15th President of India. The contest is between BJP-led NDA candidate Droupadi Murmu and Yashwant Sinha, who is supported by the Opposition parties.

New Delhi, July 18: The polling has begun in the Parliament and respective state Assemblies to elect the 15th President of India. The contest is between BJP-led NDA candidate Droupadi Murmu and Yashwant Sinha, who is supported by the Opposition parties.

A polling booth has been set up inside the Parliament premises where Members of Parliament will cast their votes. The polling is taking place in Parliament House and state legislative assemblies between 10 am and 5 pm.
 
 
Around 4,800 MPs and MLAs will cast their votes to elect the 15th President of India. The total value of votes is 10,86,431, of which votes of MLAs are 5,43,231 and MPs are 5,43,200. The counting of votes will take place on July 21 while the next President will take oath on July 25.
 
Prime Minister Narendra Modi cast his vote in the 16th Presidential election, at Parliament.
 
 
 
Apart from him, Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath, Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot, Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel, and Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin also cast their votes to elect a new President.
