Leh, Jun 24: The three-day Sindhu Darshan Yatra began here on June 23 with much fanfare and religious ceremonies in presence of good number of participants drawn from across the length and breadth of the country.
Jagadguru Shankarachrya Swami Vasudevanand Saraswatiji Maharaj of Prayagraj, RSS National Executive Committee member and Patron of Sindhu Darshan Yatra Samiti Dr. Indresh Kumar, Mahamandleshwar Yatindranand Giri Maharaj, Haryana Education Minister Kanwarpal Gujjar, actor Gajendra Chauhan and other dignitaries were prominently present at the launching ceremony.
Nearly 2000 tourists both doestic and foreigners arrived at Leh in 60 tourist buses to participate in this yatra event which is dedicted to the "Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsava" coinciding with the 75th anniversary of India's Independence.
The yatra could not be organized during the past couple of years due to cprona pandemic conditions. This year the tourists and participants are full of enthisiasm and zest to attand the event.
The office-bearers of Sindhu Darshan Yatra Samiti welcopmed the delegates, tourists and pilgrims in a grand manner. Yatra Samiti member Vikram Ranhdava said that the yatrs would be inauguratd with a "Rangarang" program at the Sindhu Bhavan located at Choglamasar in Leh in presence of the dignitaries.
This 26th Sindhu Darshan Yatra will continue till June 26. Ladkah Unition Territory Lt. Governor R K Mathur and other dignitaries participated in the cultural program. Puja of Sindhu River will be performed on 24th June and national flag will also be hoisted.
Meanwhile, Dr. Indresh Kumar and other office-bearers of the Samiti received Jagadguru Shankaracharya Vasudevanand Saraswati, Mahamandleshwar Swami Yatindranand Giri and other dignitzries on their arrival at Leh in the traditional way.
Sindhu Darshan Yatra is organized from June 23 to 26 every year under the agies of Sindu Darshan Yatra Samiti formed at the initiative of Dr. Indresh Kumar. The first inaugural event was attended by the then senior BJP leader Lal Krishna Advani 25 years ago. Today it has grown in size and number of participants. The Samiti has constructed Sindhu Bhavan for the yatris at Leh.
Various cultural programs emphasizing National Unity & Integrity have been organized.
On the sidelines of the Yatra Dr. Indresh Kumari today met Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh R. K. Mathur (Retd. IAS) and discussed various issues pertaining to Leh–Ladakh. Senior BJP leader Mr. Vijay Jolly also remained present on the occasion.
Dr. Kumar also called on Buddhist Guru Choskyong Palga Rinpoche and discussed various topics after meeting respected.
