New Delhi, June 13: In a major development, Kuwait is going to deport Asian Muslim expats who took part in a demonstration against the BJP spokesperson, Nupur Sharma, in the Fahageel area on June 10.
It should be noted, that, despite the instructions of the Kuwaiti government, expat Muslims gathered at the Fahaheel area in Kuwait City on June 10 and held a demonstration against the remarks on Prophet Muhammad by BJP spokespersons. The protestors chanted slogans against Sharma and in support of the Prophet Muhammad during the demonstration. The video of the incident went viral on social media.
Following this, the administration has now issued instructions to arrest all expats who took part in the Fahaheel protest. As per the Kuwait media reports, they will be deported as they violated the laws and regulations of the country which bar expats to participate in sit-in protests or demonstrations in the country. Holding protests and agitations by foreigners is considered a serious crime in Kuwait.
The expats who were part of the protest will reportedly be banned from entering the country. "All expats in Kuwait must respect Kuwait's laws and not take part in any type of demonstrations," said the instructions. The Kuwait government will also take appropriate action against locals who were part of the demonstration.
