Kolkata, May 6: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday (May5) said that Bengal is much better than other states while pointing at the poor law and order situation in Uttar Pradesh. The Chief Minister was responding to Home Minister Amit Shah's statement of getting killed if anyone visits Bengal.
In an attempt to respond to the charges of Home Minister Amit Shah that he could be killed if he goes to Bengal, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader said, "If anyone says don't go to Bengal, you will be killed if you go to Bengal, I feel bad. Bengal is much better than other states." Banerjee was speaking on the occasion of the first anniversary of her third term in power.
The Bengal CM aimed at recent rape case in UP and said, "Today in UP if girls go to get justice, the victims are made accused. But here we don't do that. I don't even spare my own boys and girls (party workers) if they are guilty. But there are some who share fake videos." The WB CM's statements come month after series of severe rape cases in WB where the CM herself had publicly blamed one of the victims accusing, "It was not a rape but a love affair."
The West Bengal CM also challenged the opposition saying, "This party has been in power in the state for 11 years. If anyone has guts, they can challenge and face her regarding what she and her govt has done in these 11 years." She also added, "There is no use in talking against me, of misleading and hatching a conspiracy."
