NIA arrests key accused in Sunjuwan terrorist attack on CISF vehicle

New Delhi, May 26: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested key accused in Jammu and Kashmir's Sunjuwan terrorist attack on Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) vehicle carrying 15 personnel, that took place on Apr 22.

Abid Ahmed Mir, a resident of Putrigam in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama, is an Over Ground Worker of Jaish - e - Mohammed (JeM). The case pertains to indiscriminate firing upon the security personnel, during a joint search operation in the area of Sunjuwan, Jammu, by unknown terrorists in which one Assistant Sub Inspector of CISF was martyred and several others were injured.

The security forces reportedly retaliated against the attack and killed the two terrorists on the spot. The case was initially registered at Bahu Fort Police Station in Jammu on Apr 22 and re - registered on Apr 26 by the NIA. According to the NIA, "Investigation has revealed that the accused was a close associate of arrested accused Bilal Ahmad Wagey. He was also in touch with Paksitan - based handlers of JeM."

According to NIA's statement, "Mir knowingly and voluntarily had extended support to the other co - accused persons in the commission of the instant crime." Assistant Sub Inspector SP Patel laid down his life during treatment in the hospital, another personnel was grievously injured and six other personnel of the Force sustained minor injuries while valiantly retaliating against the terror attack.
