New Delhi, Apr 9: Counter Insurgency operations expert, Lieutenant General ADS Aujla has been appointed as the next commander of the Srinagar - based Chinar Corps. The officer has previously commanded a division in the Kashmir valley and is exquisitely experienced in counter terrorism and infiltration operations.
According to the Kashmir local press, “Lt Gen ADS Aujla has been appointed the next commander of the Srinagar-based Chinar Corps. Lt Gen ADS Aujla will be taking over on Jun 10 from Lt Gen D P Pandey.”
Lt. Gen Aujla will be succeeding Lt Gen Devendra Pratap Pandey in Chinar Corps. Lt Gen Pandey will moving to the Army War College at Mhow, as its Commandant. Lt. Gen Aujla belongs to the Rajputana Rifles Regiment of the Indian Army and has commanded the 15th battalion of the Infantry regiment.
The Chinar Corps is the Indian Army's main formation tasked with combating terrorism and counter-infiltration operations in the Kashmir valley as well as along the LOC with Pakistan. The Corps is also noted to have participated in almost all military conflicts not only with Pakistan, but also with China till date.
