The Hindu on Sunday published a report titled "Rama Navami Shobha yatra passes off peacefully". This was shocking but not really because it is published by "The Hindu". It was shocking because there have been so many confirmed reports of stone-pelting (i.e. violence) during the Ram Navami processions that have gone viral. Why it is not really surprising? Again it is The Hindu!

Stone pelting violence reported all over India during Ram Navami

Stone pelting took place in five different states of India - Gujarat, West Bengalm Karnataka, Jharkhand and Madhya Pradesh - on Sunday on the occasion of Hindu festival. In Gujarat, the attacks were reported in two cities - 1) Himmatnagar and 2) Khambat. Violence in Himmatnagar began after the Ram Navami procession entered the Muslim majority locality Chhaparia area. Apart from this, vehicles & shops were also set on fire. A 65-year-old man was killed and another injured as communal clashes erupted in Khambhat.

During the Ram Navami procession in Howrah, violence broke out leaving several persons injured. In Karnataka, stones were pelted at a Ram Shobha Yatra in Mulbagal town. When procession came close to Jahangir Mohalla around 7.40 PM, there was a power cut after which the incident is said to have happened. A curfew has been imposed in some areas of Madhya Pradesh's Khargone city after stones were pelted at a Ram Navami procession on Sunday. The procession was supposed to take a round of Khargone city but it could not proceed further after the violence.

Tensions prevailed in Jharkhand's Lohardaga district after incidents of stone pelting and arson during the Ram Navami fair on Sunday in Hirahi-Hendlaso village. As tension escalated, more than a dozen motorcycles and a pickup van were set on fire at the fair. Half a dozen people are reported to have been injured in stone pelting incidents. Two of these people, Manohar Sahu and Bhola Singh, have been admitted to the hospital in critical condition. After all these reports, how did Ram Navami processions pass off "peacefully".

These stone pelting incidents leave us thinking about whether all this was organized? This is worrisome as the attacks by perpetrators took place during Hindu festival but there has been no violence reported during Ramzan. They are acting as if they are the victims in India thanks to "liberals and intellectuals". But, in reality, it is Hindus who are facing all this brutality in their own country. Everyone who got attacked peacefully during the Rama Navami procession should not raise their voice, otherwise, they would become Islamophobic.

Amid all of this, fake narrative is being spread all over the social media on the ABVP and JNU violence matter on the occasion of Ram Navami. The mainstream, of course, reported that JNU students were attacked by ABVP students. However, it was the members of Left student organizations at Jawahar Lal University who attacked the residents of Kaveri Hostel who were celebrating Ram Navami. They stopped ABVP students from doing Hawan and Puja on Ram Navami. However, twisting this truth, the Left student organizations accused ABVP students of stopping them to eat non-vegetarian food on the day of Ram Navami.

A JNU student Divya said in a video statement that she had a fast on Sunday and was there to perform Ram Navmi Puja. Suddenly some left-wing students came and attacked them. “I do not even know what they attacked us,” she said.

A Divyang student at JNU said that left-wing students did not spare him despite requesting them repeatedly. He said, “I requested them not to beat me, but they did not listen.” He was returning home after attending Puja at Kaveri Hostel when he was attacked.

However, an FIR has been registered by Delhi Police against ABVP students based on the complaint of JNUSU, SFI, DSF, and AISA under Sections 323, 341, 509, 506 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). ABVP would be filing a complaint today.

This is nothing but the terror that is being incited against Hindus through such incidents. The government needs to look into these matters very seriously or else this might go out of hand when Hindus celebrate other festivals in future.
