Burqa-clad woman who threw bomb at CRPF bunker in Kashmir arrested, works for terror organisation LeT

Srinagar, Apr 1: The Burqa-clad woman who had hurled a petrol bomb at a CRPF camp in Sopore town of Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla district on March 29 has been arrested, Jammu and Kashmir Police said. Vijay Kumar IGP Kashmir confirming the development said that the woman who hurled a petrol bomb at Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) camp in Sopore has been arrested.

The IGP informed that the Burqa-clad woman was identified as Haseena Akhtar, a resident of Baramulla. Reports suggest that she is an OGW (Over Ground Worker) of the terror organization Lashkar-e-Taiba. Apart from that, there are three FIRs under UAPA registered against her. She has been arrested in past for various anti-national activities.
 
It is also understood that that Haseena Akhtar is the wife of Mohammed Yousuf Bhat, a resident of Sheeri Baramulla, who was a stone-pelter and had been arrested under the Public Safety Act (PSA) in 2016 for 17 months.
 
 
A woman clad in a burqa hurled a bomb at a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) bunker in Jammu and Kashmir’s Sopore town of Baramulla district on Tuesday, showed a video shared by the CRPF. The 20-second video from a nearby security camera shows the woman walking past before she stops, takes out the explosive device from her bag. The device that the woman threw begins sparking flames as soon as she pulls it out of her bag. She then throws it at the bunker and runs away. As she does so, a few people walking on the road can be seen running away.
 
Following this, the security personnel immediately came out of the bunker to douse the fire with buckets of water. According to reports, there were no casualties or injuries. On Wednesday, Vijay Kumar, IGP told that the burqa-clad woman had been identified and will be arrested soon. The attack comes three days after terrorists hurled a grenade at a camp of the Jammu and Kashmir Police's Special Operations Group (SOG) in Shopian district. According to officials, the grenade exploded near the camp and no damage was reported.
 
The attack on the CRPF camp also comes amid massive political controversy surrounding Vivek Agnihotri's film 'The Kashmir Files', which depicts the genocide of Kashmiri Pandits during 1990 in Kashmir Valley.
