Since The Kashmir Files has been released, many people are talking about it. Some politicians like Arvind Kejriwal are making fun of this brutal reality and mocking the genocide, on the other hand, A Maulavi from Kashmir (Rajouri district) is giving threats to Hindus after this film is making news. One video recently got viral, where a maulvi is saying “We have ruled over you for 800 years, you have been doing that since last 70 years and you think that you can erase us from the mankind, but I swear on god people who read Kalma will not die, but you will.” The name of maulvi is Farooq.
His exact words were, “Hamne tumpar 800 saal huqumat ki, tum pichhle 70 sal se huqumat kar rahe ho aur tumhe lagta hai ki hamara namo nishan mit jayega, lekin khuda ki kasam tum mit jaoge lekin kalma padhne wale log nahi mitenge.”
This particular video is from a masjid situated in Kashmir. Maulavi adds, “Tell me loudly whether this movie should get banned or not?” and then the public supports him by raising their both hands.
Journalist Ashish Kohli put out this particular video of a hate speech made by the controversial cleric Maulvi Farooq, in which he was issuing threats to ‘The Kashmir Files’ team saying that the movie only spoke about the killings of Kashmiri Pandits but did not show the alleged deaths of thousands of Kashmiri Muslims. According to Maulvi, the Vivek Agnihotri-directorial film is divisive and is a pre-planned conspiracy against Muslims. He loudly says in this video that Vivek Agnihotri deliberately did this to create problems between two communities and it is against Muslims, and we will not tolerate this.

After the video got viral, many Hindus from Kashmir reported this incident to police, and when police enquired with Maulana Farooq he backtracked. His words and the aggression in his words changed completely. He replied to the police, “We have REQUESTED the government to ban this film, as this may cause communal issues. We don’t want to target any religion or group here, on the other hand, we feel that Kashmiri Pandits are Kashmir’s pride. Jammu Kashmir is incomplete without them”
Now the questions that are raised post his video got viral :
1. If he is not targeting any religion here then about whom he was talking when he said “We have ruled over you for 800 years.” Whom he was referring to?
2. If he feels that Kashmiri Pandis are the pride of Jammu and Kashmir then why was he demanding to ban this film, which is nothing but the brutal truth of Kashmiri Pandits. Why did he talk against Hindus and tell them that this movie is against Muslims?
3. Where was the aggression in his voice, when talked with the police?
This was the ultimate example of hypocrisy. The horrifying fact about this video is in the end you hear “Nara Ek Takbir Allahu Akbar” which was present there in the movie too, while terrorists were attacking Kashmir Vally. What they are up to and what do they want to do here? Is a big question.
One film that is bringing out the raw and real face of society is something we should notice and take action accordingly.
