1st BJP MP in Lok Sabha Chandupatla Reddy passes away; had defeated ex-PM PV Narasimha Rao in 1984

He had defeated former Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao from the Hanumakonda Lok Sabha constituency in the 1984 general elections.

Hyderabad, Feb 05: The BJP's iconic leader, who represented the party for the first time in the Lower House of Parliament as MP, Chandupatla Janga Reddy, breathed his last this morning. He had defeated former Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao from the Hanumakonda Lok Sabha constituency in the 1984 general elections.

He passed away at the age of 87. His mortal remains would be kept in the BJP Party Office in Nampally for visitors to pay their respects from 9.30 am till 10 am today.
 
Born in 1935 in Parakal, Reddy started his political career as a Jan Sangh worker and took an active part in the Telangana Satyagraha Movement. He has dedicated his entire life to working for the party and has also represented the Parakal and Sayampet assembly segments as the MLA. He was a member of the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly during 1967-72, 1978–83, and 1983-84. Before joining politics, Janga Reddy had served as a teacher.
