In Arunachal Pradesh"s Tawang, a total number of 2350 helmets colored in national tricolours were used to form the sentence ‘Jai Hind’ at the Gyalwa Tsangyang Gyatso high altitude stadium.

Tawang, Dec 8: Known for its 400-year-old Buddhist monastery, Tawang adds another feather to its highly decorated hat. The Tawang district of Arunachal Pradesh on November 20 entered the Guinness Book of World Records by forming the largest helmet sentence in the mountains.

The event titled "Lakshya" – to create awareness of road safety by making the world record – was organized by Amazing Namaste Foundation in collaboration with the Government of Arunachal Pradesh. A total of 2,350 helmets colored in national tricolours were used to make a formation of "Jai Hind" at Gyalwa Tsangyang Gyatso High Altitude Stadium.
 
 
The event took place in the presence of Chief Minister Pema Khandu, who blew the whistle at 6.30 am to start the proceedings of helmet formation and by 9.30 am, the helmet sentence formation was completed. A large section of the local residents joined this initiative ‘Lakshya’ of creating first in line Records anywhere in the world.
 
The formation which was 136 feet long and 31 ft wide was made possible through an effort made by volunteers comprising of young school & college students, senior citizens coming together to place these helmets touching each other in an organised manner.

Khandu and Atul Kulkarni, chairman of the Amazing Namaste Foundation, jointly received the Certificate of Confirmation from the Guinness Book of World Records representative, Swapnil Dangorikar.

To mark the event and create awareness of road safety, a bike rally was also organized that started from the famous Tawang Monastery and culminated at the stadium via the Maratha Ground here. The bike rally, composed of about 200 riders from various parts of the state and CRPF personnel was joined by Khandu. He later handed over souvenirs to the bikers appreciating their participation and contributing to creating awareness of road safety.

It is pertinent to mention that on the same date 60 years back, the Chinese Army had withdrawn from Tawang town after facing stiff resistance.
