Godda, Dec 29: Godda's BJP MP Nishikant Dubey on Wednesday said he rescued hundreds of Cows from being illegally smuggled to Bangladesh from the Santhal Pargana region in Jharkhand.
Dubey said he was on his way to Deoghar from Godda with a few of his supporters when they spotted herds of bovines near Dighi, a village located on the border of the two districts, being walked to an unknown destination.
Dubey said he alighted from his vehicle and walked up to the two men who were marshaling the animals and asked for papers pertaining to the purchase of the animals. When they failed to show any papers, they were taken to Saraiyahat police station along with the cattle where an FIR was lodged against them. The men, identified as Moinuddin Sheikh and Ali Hussain, were forwarded to jail. "The two men have been charged for cruelty against the animal act and other suitable sections of the IPC and were forwarded to jail," Saraiyahat PS in-charge Vinay Kumar said.
"Thousands of bovine animals are being smuggled from Santhal Pargana to Bangladesh for slaughter under the patronage of the incumbent Hemant Soren government which is indulging in appeasement politics. While the cattle are smuggled, the local policemen remain silent spectators," Dubey said.
