Security alert issued in Bodh Gaya amid visit of Dalai Lama suspecting a Chinese woman

Patna, Dec 29: A security alert was issued in Bodh Gaya in Bihar on Thursday (Dec 29) morning amid the visit of the Dalai Lama with the police searching for a Chinese woman, an official said.

According to the reports of PTI, police issued a sketch of the woman, identified as Song Xiaolan, besides sharing her passport and visa details with the press. However, it was not immediately clear why the police were looking for the woman.

Security has been beefed up around the Mahabodhi Temple Complex with the screening of devotees being intensified, he added. The Dalai Lama addressed a gathering in the morning. Dalai Lama's religious programme has been organized from Dec 29 to 31 at Bodhgaya, whereby visitors are expected from across the world.

Earlier, four foreign nationals who came to attend the religious preaching of Tibetan Spiritual Leader Dalai Lama at Gaya were found to be COVID positive raising fears of a surge in the number of COVID cases at the religious place. One of them is from Myanmar and the other three are the residents of Bangkok.
