Congress appoints Mukul Wasnik as Senior Observer for 2023 Assembly Elections in three North-Eastern States of Nagaland, Meghalaya & Tripura

Agartala, Dec 27: Congress appointed MP Mukul Wasnik as the Senior Observer for the upcoming Assembly Elections in 2023 in the three North-Eastern States of Nagaland, Meghalaya and Tripura.

The party has also appointed observers for the respective states. The Press Release issued by the All India Congress Committee said MP Benny Behnan, Ex-MP J.D. Seelam will perform the role of observers in Meghalaya, MP Francisco Sardinha and MP Dr K. Jayakumar in Nagaland, Arvinder Singh Lovely and MP Abdul Khaleque in Tripura.

Mukul Wasnik was the Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment in Government of India. He represented the Ramtek constituency of Maharashtra from 2009 to 2014. Benny Behnan serves as Member of Parliament from Chalakudy and was the MLA of Thrikkakara Legislative Assembly Constituency from 2011 to 2016. K Jayakumar was elected as a Member of Parliament in Lok Sabha from Thiruvallur Constituency in 2019. Abdul Khaleque was a Member of Parliament from Barpeta constituency of Assam and previously he served as a member of Assam Legislative Assembly from Jania Constituency.

J.D. Seelam was Member of Parliament of representing Andhra Pradesh in the Rajya Sabha from 2004 till 2016. He was Minister of State (Revenue) under the Ministry of Finance from 2013. Francisco Sardinha is a Member of Parliament, representing South Goa Lok Sabha constituency and he had earlier served as the Chief Minister of Goa from 1999 to 2000. Arvinder Singh Lovely is a former president of the Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee.
