Peacefully holding flags and raising the slogans like' Bharat Mata Jay', some Indian origins living in Canada gave tough protest to the Khalistani supporters who came to vote in the referendum that took place on 6 November in Mississauga. The videos of the peaceful protest have gone viral on social media.

Reports suggest that more than 75,000 Canadian Sikhs voted in the Referendum at the Paul Coffee Arena, Mississauga. This referendum phase II took place despite the Indian government's protest.
 
 
Last week Prime Minister Narendra Modi's led-government asked the Trudeau government to stop anti-India activity on their land. They have also asked the Canadian Govt to designate terrorists under its laws to those individuals and entities who have been declared as terrorists under Indian laws.
 
While answering the question related to the Khalistan referendum, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) Spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said, “We find it deeply objectionable that politically motivated exercises by extremist elements are allowed to take place in a friendly country. You are all aware of the history of violence in this regard,” said MEA spokesperson Arindam Bagchi.
