The first batch comprises students and delegates from IIT Madras who will be attending the month-long Kashi-Tamil Sangamam being organised to celebrate, reaffirm, and rediscover the age-old links between Tamil Nadu and Kashi, two of the country’s most important and ancient seats of learning, reported.

The event will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on November 19. The programme aims to provide an opportunity for people from all walks of life, including scholars, students, philosophers, traders, artisans, artists, and others from the two regions, to come together, share their knowledge, culture, and best practices, and learn from each other’s experience.

Subiksha, who is working as a company secretary, stated that the program is about re-establishing the connection between Tamil Nadu and Varanasi. "We have a replica of Varanasi's temple in Tamil Nadu called Tenkasi," stated Subiksha, who wished to learn more about the culture of Varanasi.

Meanwhile, Governor RN Ravi, who flagged off the train, said that Kashi lives in the hearts of Tamil people. "Even in Sangam literature, there is reference to Kashi. Tamil people have a deep connection with Kashi," he said.

RN Ravi also said that this was an attempt by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to make people of Tamil Nadu feel at home in Kashi.

A month-long exhibition of handlooms, handicrafts, One District, One Product (ODOP) products, books, documentaries, cuisine, art forms, and history, besides tourist places of the two regions, will also be put up in Kashi.
