It was indeed an embarrassing situation for Congress and its leader Rahul Gandhi, the national anthem of Nepal was played when RaGa asked for the 'Rashtra Geet' during the Bharat Jodo Yatra in Maharashtra's Washim on Wednesday (16 November). The incident was caught on camera and went viral on social media.

As per the reports, after giving 30 min speech as a part of the Bharat Jodo Yatra, Rahul Gandhi announced that ‘Rashtriya Geet’ would be played, and the Congress leader managing the stage echoed him. The music started, and everyone stood in position to sing along to the ‘Rashtriya Geet’. However, to everyone’s ‘shock’, the person responsible for playing the song played the Nepalese National Anthem. It took several seconds for the leaders to realise that the one played was not the Indian national anthem.

As if the goof-up itself wasn't enough, the leaders started chanting 'Bharat Mata Ki' even as the song was yet to be completed. At this time we should like to pointout that, Rahul Gandhi was asking to play Rashtriya Geet which he thought is the national anthem, however ‘Rashtriya Geet’ means National Song ‘Vande Mataram’.

Soon after the video has gone viral on social media, BJP leaders slammed Rahul Gandhi and the Congress for the mistake. Tamil Nadu BJP leader Amar Prasad Reddy shared the video and wrote, "Rahul Gandhi, what is this?"
