Hardik Patel, Ravindra Jadeja's wife among 160 BJP candidates for the Gujarat polls

The wife of star cricketer Ravindra Jadeja, Rivaba, and Hardik Patel, who switched over from the Congress a few months ago, were among some of the prominent names featured on the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) first candidate list announced for the upcoming Gujarat Assembly polls.

 

 

The BJP central election committee (CEC) announced its candidates for 160 constituencies. Among others, former Morbi MLA Kantilal Amrutya too has been named as a party candidate. The saffron outfit list includes 14 women, and 13 and 24 members from the Schedules Castes and Scheduled Tribes respectively.

 

 

As per the list, former Congress leader Hardik Patel has been fielded as a BJP candidate from the Viramgam constituency while Rivaba Jadeja got a party ticket from the Jamnagar North constituency.

 

It should be noted, Rivabha who was chief of women's wing of Karni Sena, formally joined the BJP in 2019 ahead of the Lok Sabha election. Meanwhile, Hardik Patel resigned from Congress in May this year, saying that he was being sidelined in the party, and was not given any responsibility.
