HAL order book reaches Rs 84,000 Cr; expected to rise by another 50 pc within year

New Delhi, Nov 1: In a major boost to 'Make in India' drive in the defence sector, the order book of Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) has already reached Rs 84,000 Cr and is expected to rise by another 50 per cent within a year.

 

 

 

 

According to the reports of Times Now, HAL CMD CB Ananthakrishnan discussed a recent trainer aircraft contract with the Indian Air Force (IAF), renewed push for indigenous manufacturing of defence equipment, the company's order book, export orders, and growth outlook. It was in fact during the DefExpo 2022, in Gandhinagar that, the Indian Air Force and Hindustan Aeronautics Limited had concluded a contract for 70 HTT-40 indigenous trainer aircraft worth Rs 6,800 crore.

 

 

 

 

 

According to HAL, the twin-seater HTT-40's are used for basic flying training, aerobatics, instrument flying, navigation, night flying, close formation. Its maximum take-off weight is 2,800 kg while its top speed is 450 km/h with a range of 1,000 kms. Talking about an expected delivery timeframe, Ananthakrishnan said, "We are expecting to commence delivery in the next three years, by October 2025. With an average of around 20 aircraft per year, we should be able to complete the delivery of the order by 2027."

 

 

"Our order book has reached Rs 84,000 crore and it is likely to increase to Rs 1.2 lakh crore within a year," he added. The Hindustan Aeronautics Limited is an aerospace and defence company, which had its origin as Hindustan Aircraft Limited, which was incorporated on December 23, 1940.
