In what can be called good news for Pakistan's former PM Imran Khan and his supporters, a documentary titled Behind Closed Doors is set to release online soon and will see some familiar faces, including former premier Imran Khan, Fawad Chaudhry Shahzad Akbar, journalist Irfan Hashmi and others talking about the Sharif family and their alleged corruption.
The documentary seeks to highlight how politically exposed persons have used the British financial system and offshore jurisdictions to launder or hide their wealth.
The trailer has been shared by several people including many influential leaders in the country. It was also shared by Chaudhry Fawad Hussain, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and former Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting.
Netizens said that it is a shame that Pakistan has to witness the such unfortunate event.
Several PTI leaders are also excited for the trailer as it deals with corruption cases of current Pakistan PM Shehbaz Sharif.
According to its description, Behind Closed Doors is a film about corruption in high places and those who enable it. Politically Exposed Persons (PEPs) are people who hold a public function and as a result, present higher risks of being involved in bribery or corruption. Offshore leaks have revealed repeatedly that PEPs use British finance and British offshore jurisdictions to launder their wealth, hide their wealth and re-invest it into the global financial system. London is the place where they buy property, where they take legal action against their critics and where they live when they fall from grace.
But what happens when a developing country fights back and attempts to get Britain to return the money that it claims has been stolen?"
On the website, it is mentioned that the film has contributions from Imran Khan, Arshad Sharif, John-Allan Namu, Tom Stocks, Rachel Davies Teka, Fawad Chaudry, Emin Huseynov, Shazad Akbar, Irfan Hashmi. Among the contributors in former Pak PM Imran Khan, former minister Fawad Chaudhry, and Arshad Sharif. As per reports, Arshad Sharif is a journalist having close ties with the PTI.
There have been rumours that Netflix is going to release the documentary but there is no confirmation from the OTT pltform.
