We have been seeing celebrities like Kareena Kapoor Khan, Twinkle Khanna, and Ratna Pathak Shah calling karwachauth a regressive tradition. We have been seeing women celebrities mocking Hindu traditions for a long time, but have you seen any of the khan wives or any Indian Women celebrities calling out traditions like Hijab, Triple Talaq, and Halala regressive traditions? On the other hand celebrities like Sana Khan quit the show biz and become full-time “Muslim Dharm Guru” and starts giving bayans and starts promoting hijab. But do you see any one of them calling this regressive? This question is raised by famous author and speaker Shefali Vaidya on the occasion of Karwachauth.

Hypocrisy

Recently Ratna Pathak Shah famously known as Maya Sarabhai said in an interview that this is blind faith and she says, this tradition is regressive. She also said “Am I mad to keep a fast for my husband’s long life? Is this not horrible that well-educated women also believe in Karwachauth?”She did not stop here and even said “India is becoming more and more regressive and soon we will become Saudi Arabia” Strange fact is this lady hasn’t uttered a word about the hijab controversy or Teen Talaq which is a part of the Indian Muslim Society for a long time. Hijab is termed as the freedom of Muslim Wome, and Karwachauth makes India Saudi Arabia. Isn’t this though a horrible one?

Same as Kareena Kapoor Khan and Twinkle Khanna who actually mocked ladies who keep fast for their husbands, they made fun of the feelings of these Indian Women who believe in traditions and keeping our Parampara and culture alive. Twinkle Khanna while making fun of Karwachauth said, “Sorry women it doesn’t work as the mortality rate is high in India for men” This statement itself is horrible.

While these ladies are questioning Hindu traditions, asking people not to celebrate holi with water and Diwali with Crackers, have you seen them speaking about Cutting Bakra on Bakri Eid or Hijab or Halala or Rapes of nuns by a bishop? any of that sort?

Shefali Vaidya said in her recent post sharing a video of these 3 women, “None of these worthies EVER say anything about the r@pe of nuns by bishops, FGM in Islam, compulsory hijaab, nikah halala! Criticizing Hindu practices gets you ‘liberal’ privilege, criticising Islam gets you a behe@ding! That’s the difference.”

The real question is, till when we are going to support selective secularism? Selective narrative? And Selective opinions? What do you think? Let us know in the comments below.
