Rise of hate crimes against Indians? Student from Agra stabbed 11 times in Australia, family claims racial attack

Sydney, Oct 14: Amid ongoing hate crimes against Hindus in so-called human rights-concerned "Western countries", a 28-year-old Indian student has been brutally stabbed by an unknown assailant in Australia. The victim is undergoing treatment at a hospital and is said to be in critical condition.

The victim, Shubham Garg, has been allegedly stabbed with a knife at least 11 times and suffered multiple injuries in the face, chest, and abdomen. This is being suspected as a possible case of racial attack.

As per Australian media, police have arrested a 27-year-old man in connection with the attack. He has been charged with attempted murder.

 
 
Shubham is pursuing a Ph.D. from the University of South Wales in Sydney. Shubham is the native Agra district in Uttar Pradesh.Shubham's family has termed the attack as racist. His parents said they were trying to get Australian Visa for over a week but to no avail.
 

Shubham's father Ramniwas Garg said neither his son nor his friends knew about the attacker. He said the attack appeared to be racist and demanded help from the Indian government.

Shubham joined an Australian university on September 1 after completing his Btech and Mtech from IIT Madras.
