Sydney, Oct 14: Amid ongoing hate crimes against Hindus in so-called human rights-concerned "Western countries", a 28-year-old Indian student has been brutally stabbed by an unknown assailant in Australia. The victim is undergoing treatment at a hospital and is said to be in critical condition.
The victim, Shubham Garg, has been allegedly stabbed with a knife at least 11 times and suffered multiple injuries in the face, chest, and abdomen. This is being suspected as a possible case of racial attack.
As per Australian media, police have arrested a 27-year-old man in connection with the attack. He has been charged with attempted murder.
Shubham's father Ramniwas Garg said neither his son nor his friends knew about the attacker. He said the attack appeared to be racist and demanded help from the Indian government.
Shubham joined an Australian university on September 1 after completing his Btech and Mtech from IIT Madras.
