Delhi Riots 2020: After two years, Delhi Police held main accused in the Ankit Sharma murder case

Hyderabad, Oct 13: In a major development, nearly two years after the brutal killing of IB Staffer Ankit Sharma during the Delhi riots, the Delhi special cell police arrested the key accused from Telangana.

The accused has been identified as 34-years-old Munjtajim alias Musa Qureshi. He was apprehended from Hyderbad's Meerpet area on Monday. He was carrying a reward of Rs 50,000 on his head. The Police said that the accused was absconding since 2020 and was hiding in Telangana.
 
Earlier in 2020, other accused named Riyasat, Shahnawaz and Salman were arrested in the case.
 
For unreserved, IB official Ankit Sharma was brutally killed in Delhi’s Khajuri Khas on February 26, 2020. Ankit had gone missing along with his two friends on Tuesday. Police recovered his body from a drain near Chand Bagh.
 
 
 
As per the cops, there were deep slashes and cut on Ankit's face chest, and back. His face was also burned indicating that acid was also used. During the investigation, it came to light that Ankit Sharma was specifically targeted by the mob that was led by AAP councilor Tahir Hussain.
 
In a charge sheet police says that Ankit Sharma was murdered outside the residence of Tahir Hussain in the Khajuri Khas area on February 25. After stabbing him multiple times, the mob threw his body into the nearby drain.
