Vandana Kataria has been a significant player in the Indian women hockey team’s forwardline. Her journey was fulfilled with nothing but obstacles. From practicing with tree branches, listening to taunts from neighbours to poor financial conditions, she has come a long way.

 

Having an experience of more than 12 years, her vital victories include when she became the first Indian women hockey player to reach a milestone of 250 international caps during the 2022 Asia Cup and her hat-trick at Tokyo Olympics for securing quarterfinl berth was instrumental.

 

 

With many big-ticket tournaments such as the World Cup, Asian Games and Paris Olympics in the pipeline, the Padma Shri Awardee will have a key role to play in driving the Indian women’s hockey team to newer heights.
