UN says only inclusive settlement to bring sustainable peace to Afghanistan; NRF officially declares Taliban as a threat to nation

In its first ever reaction to the Taliban terrorist taking oath as new ministers of the Afghanistan government, the UN on Wednesday has said that it does not engage in acts of recognitions and that only an inclusive settlement will bring sustainable peace to Afghanistan. "The UN Secretariat and the UN doesn't engage in acts of recognition of governments. That is a matter that's done by member states, not by us. From our stand point regarding today's announcements only a negotiate and inclusive settlement will bring sustainable peace to Afghanistan", Farhan Haq, Deputy Spokesman for UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres stated.

 

 

"The UN is committed to contribute to a peaceful solutions, promotes the human rights of all Afghans, promotes sustainable development in line with Agenda 2013, and provides life saving humanitarian assistance and critical support to civilians in need," he added. The Taliban named Mullah Muhammad Hassan Akhund as the leader of the caretaker government. Taliban leader Mullah Omar's son, Mullah Yaqoob, has been appointed defence minister, while Haqqani network leader, Sirajuddin Haqqani, assumed the role of interior minister.

Meanwhile, the National Resistance Front of Afghanistan has declared the Taliban Cabinet illegal and said it is threat to the nation. “NRF believes that the establishment of a democratic, legal and legitimate government can only be achieved through the will and vote of the people in a general election that is also acceptable to the international community," it said in a statement.

 

 

 

 

"Imposing an occupier’s regime on the people of Afghanistan is against our human dignity and international law", the front added further urging the international organisations, including the UN and its agencies, “to hold off recognition of and refrain from diplomatic ties with the Taliban’s regime until such time when conditions based on the will of the people of Afghanistan is realised”. “We ask the international community to declare its support for the people of Afghanistan in their struggle to rid our country of occupation and terrorism," it said.
