London, September 29: Ahead of the Diwali festival and when the Hindu community worldwide purchases gold bars, ornaments, and coins on the occasion of Dhanteras,
UK Mint has launched a gold bar with the Hindu Goddess of wealth Lakshmi on it.
The gold bar weighs 20 g and is made up of 999.9 fine gold. The gold bar has been designed by Emma Noble and it cost about ₹1,00,000 (£1,080).
With gold being a traditional and auspicious present during the Diwali festival, we wanted to create a product that combined beauty and tradition with a modern twist, said Andrew Dickey, a Director for Precious Metals at the Royal Mint.
He further said the bar is an excellent illustration of this and was thrilled to collaborate with Nilesh Kabaria of the Shree Swaminarayan Temple in Cardiff to ensure that we correctly and respectfully represented the Hindu Goddess of Wealth.
The bar, which can be bought from the official Royal Mint website. It will be presented to customers in a specially designed henna patterned sleeve. The Royal Mint website says that the gold bar is 'an auspicious gift which unites British minting excellence and time-honored traditions
It will be blessed by the Shree Swaminarayan Temple during Lakshmi Puja on November 4 this year. The event will be attended by the officials of the Royal Mint.
