Tribal Affairs Minister Arjun Munda visiting Assam for two days starting tomorrow
The Minister of Tribal Affairs, Arjun Munda will remain on a 2-day visit to the State of Assam from tomorrow. It"s expected that during his visit, he will assess how well-implemented the state"s MFP, VDVK and TRIFOOD programmes have been.

New Delhi, Sept11: The Minister of Tribal Affairs, Arjun Munda will remain on a 2-day visit to the State of Assam from tomorrow. It's expected that during his visit, he will assess how well-implemented the state's MFP, VDVK and TRIFOOD programmes have been. His entourage will include Shri Pravir Krishna, TRIFED's Managing Director, as well as other top TRIFED executives.
He will meet with the Governor of Assam, Jagdish Mukhi, and Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in Guwahati, as well as Chief Secretary and Principal Secretary of Assam as well as other high-ranking state officials. As part of this week's events, two workshops/conferences are scheduled: the Voice of North East Janajatiya Leader Conference on the first day, and a Van Dhan Workshop at IIE on the second day. Additionally, he intends to visit VDVKC at Katakipara, Guwahati, as well as Lokhara Guwahati. They declared this in a press release today by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs.
These tribal development initiatives will be reviewed and assessed by the Minister during his two-day visit. They are designed to alter tribal lifestyles and livelihoods across the country, paving the way for an Atmanirbhar Bharat. These programmes are being implemented by TRIFED across the country.
What is TRIFED:
As a National Level Cooperative Body, TRIFED was established in August 1987 by the Government of India under the Multi-State Cooperative Societies Act, 1984, with the basic mandate of bringing about socio-economic development of tribals in the country by institutionalising the trade-in Minor Forest Produce (MFP) & Surplus Agricultural Produce (SAP) collected/cultivated by them.
