Mumbai, August 09: Veteran TV actor Anupam Shyam who was well known for his role in the show 'Mann Kee Awaaz: Pratigya', passed away on Monday due to multiple organs failure.
He was hospitalised for 4 days due to a kidney infection to Mumbai's Lifeline hospital in Goregaon.
According to his friend, actor Yashpal Sharma, Shyam breathed his last at the hospital amid the presence of his two brothers, Anurag and Kanchan. He also said that Anupam was suffering from high blood sugar and was on injections during the shooting of his last film.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath condoled the late actor's demise on Twitter on Monday morning. "Very sad to hear of the demise of famous actor Anupam Shyam Ojha Ji. My condolences are with the bereaved families. Praying to Lord Shri Ram to grant the departed soul a place at his feet and strength to his bereaved family and admirers to bear this loss. Om Shanti," he tweeted.
In his nearly three-decade-long career, the 63-year-old actor played negative roles in several TV daily soaps.
He belongs to Pratapgarh in Uttar Pradesh and is an alumnus of Bhartendu Academy of Dramatic Arts, Lucknow, where he studied from 1983 to 1985.
Apart from TV shows, Shyam also featured in films like -Lajja, Nayak, Dubai Return, Parzania, Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi, Shakti: The Power, Bandit Queen, internationally acclaimed movie Slumdog Millionaire "Satya", "Dil Se", "Lagaan", "Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi". However, he received critical acclaim for his role as Thakur Sajjan Singh on "Mann Kee Awaaz Pratigya", which aired in 2009 on Star Plus. He had recently resumed shooting for season two of his show "Mann Ki Awaaz: Pratigya".
