Devasthanam Board won't be allowed to harm interest of priests: Uttarakhand CM assures

Dehradun, August 25: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Tuesday assured that the Devasthanam board will not be allowed to harm the interest of the Priests and and 'hak-hakookdharis' at any cost. CM Dhami made this announcement on social media.

This development comes during a meeting held between the delegation of pilgrimage priests of Kedarnath and Badrinath, led by Devprayag MLA Vinod Kandari and former Kedarnath MLA Shailrani Rawat, and Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. During the meeting on the Devasthanam Board, the Chief Minister said that the state government would listen to all the parties and address their concerns. The Chief Minister said that there should be no communication gap.
 
 
"The state government will listen to all stakeholders and address their concerns. The Devasthanam Board will not be allowed to hurt the interest of teerth purohits, hak hakookdharis, and Panda Samaj," Dhami said.
 
The state government will find a way out through dialogue. All doubts will be cleared through dialogue and where reforms are needed, the state government will take up reforms
 
 
The Devasthanam Board came into existence during the tenure of former Uttarakhand chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat. It controls the management of 51 temples including the Chardham -- Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath. ''Hak-hakookdharis'' are people who have traditional rights to resources in and around the temples.
