Kolkata, August 18: The torture of Hindu people continues in the Mamta Banerjee-led West Bengal, the Kolkatta Police have mercilessly beaten Hindu devotees. As of now, there is no mention of TMC goons.
WB police beat devotees with batons after they gathered to offer prayers at the iconic Bhootnath temple in the Beniatola area of Kolkata in West Bengal.
The BJP unit of West Bengal throw's light on the incident. Sharing the video of the incident on social media, BJP said, "In front of the Bhootnath temple, the devotees of Shiva were brutally beaten by the Kolkata police. Is this what the devotees of Shiva deserve? Mamata Banerjee’s reign in Bengal serves as a microcosm of the Taliban's rule! Shame!."
The Bhootnath Temple of Kolkata has great importance. A large number of Shiva devotees reach here in the month of Sawan to have the darshan of Lord Shiva. According to the media reports, all major temples in the state which were closed due to the covid's second wave have been reopened, however, the Bhootnath Temple has remained closed owing to COVID restrictions.
As this Monday is considered the last Monday of the Shawan, devotees flock to the temple to worship from outside the temple, after which the police lathi-charged the devotees. They have mercilessly beaten devotees.

While speaking about the matter, State Vice-President Ritesh Tiwari said, “Shocking and barbaric! The Kolkata Police is mercilessly beating the Shiva Devotees in front of Kolkata’s Bhootnath Temple and it is a painful sight to watch. Is this what these innocent devotees deserve?”
He then compared the deteriorating law and order situation in West Bengal under Mamata Banerjee to that of Afghanistan under the Taliban.
