New Delhi, August 17: In a bid to help the citizens of Afghanistan amid the ongoing situation in Afghanistan, Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led-government reviewed visa provisions and introduced a new category of electronic visa called “e-Emergency X-Misc Visa” to fast-track applications for entry into India.
The spokesperson of the Ministry of Home Affairs announced the development. The spokesperson said "MHA reviews visa provisions in view of the current situation in Afghanistan. A new category of electronic visa called “e-Emergency X-Misc Visa” introduced to fast-track visa applications for entry into India."
It should be noted that the evacuation of Indians in Afghanistan is on the way. India has evacuated the second batch of diplomats and officials from Kabul using an Indian Air Force C-17 heavy-lift aircraft. New Delhi has also assured Indians staying in Afghanistan that it will evacuate those Indians who wish to leave Afghanistan.
On Monday, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) set up an 'Afghanistan Cell' to coordinate repatriation and related matters in the backdrop of the Taliban taking control of the country. The announcement by MEA spokesperson Arindam Bagchi on setting up of the Cell came on Monday night hours after he said that India will facilitate the repatriation of Sikhs and Hindus who wish to leave the war-torn country.
