Kabul, August 12: In the very worrying situation for the world and India, as the Talibani terrorist force seized a Russian-designed Mi-35 attack helicopter, gifted by India to the Afghan forces in 2019.
According to the private media house, the Taliban has seized nearly 123 choppers which is similar to that of the choppers gifted by India. This development comes after Talibani took the control of Kunduz airport in northern Afghanistan from Afghan forces after capturing the Afghan city of Kunduz last week.
Videos and photographs have emerged from the captured airport showing Taliban fighters guarding the gunship. However, the rotor blades and vital components of the engines of the helicopter appear to be missing. It is being speculated that the Afghan forces removed all the important parts from the helicopter anticipating defeat to the Taliban forces.
India in October 2019 had handed over the second pair of Mi-24V helicopters, also known as Mi-35 to war-torn Afghanistan, boosting the capability of the Afghan forces. India had delivered the first two Mi-24Vs in May 2018.
These four gunships were present at the Pathankot airbase in 2016 when terrorists attacked there and they could have been one of the main targets along with the other fighter aircraft there. Taliban have been making advances against Afghanistan forces following the withdrawal of US troops from the country.
