New Delhi, Aug 11: Vice President and Rajya Sabha Chairman Venkaiah Naidu on Wednesday said that action will be taken against members of opposition parties who created a ruckus during a short-duration discussion on farm issues yesterday.
This came after while the discussion was underway, some members of the opposition parties, including Congress, Trinamool Congress (TMC) and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), trooped into the well with sloganeering. At that time, Congress leader Pratap Singh Bajwa stood on a bench in Rajya Sabha while raising slogans and threw heavy files with force towards the Chair.
A video has gone viral on social media platforms where Rajya Sabha members were seen raising slogans against the laws, and Bajwa was standing on a bench holding a folder. Suddenly, he threw it towards the Chair with force. Though a lot of noise was there due to slogans raised by leaders, one can easily hear the ‘thud’ sound that folder made when it landed near the Chair.

As the proceedings of the upper house began this morning, an emotional Naidu said, "All sacredness of this House was destroyed yesterday when some members sat on the tables and some climbed on the tables. There are no words to convey my anguish and to condemn such acts. I spent a sleepless night as I struggled to find out the provocation of reason forcing this august House to such a low yesterday."
He further added, "Last night I struggled to find out the provocation or reason to forcing this august house to reach such low yesterday. A discussion on agriculture problems was listed. there can be a difference of opinion, they could have discussed it in house and protested and voted against it."
Bajwa later said he has no regrets. "I will do this 100 times again if the government does not give us an opportunity to discuss the three black anti-agriculture laws," he told news agency.
Recently, it was reported that TMC MP Santanu Sen snatched the paper from IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and torn it to pieces on the floor of Rajya Sabha.
