After centres warning, Himachal Pradesh govt directs hotels to follow COVID-appropriate behavior

Shimla, July 08: After the central government pulled the legs of the Himachal Pradesh govt over the rampant flouting of COVID rules in Manali, Shimla, Chief Minister Jairam Thakur directed hotels in the state to follow all Covid-19 rule.

"We are also a bit anxious as the tourist influx increased in the state. We welcome tourists but I urge them to follow Covid norms. They should follow social distancing and wear a mask. We have also directed hotels to follow SOP strictly," Thakur said.
 
He also directed deputy commissioners and superintendents of police to ensure Covid-appropriate behavior at prominent tourist destinations.
 
 
The chief secretary to Himachal Pradesh government, Anil Kumar Khachi, had said that the state government had advised all District Collectors to enforce Covid appropriate behavior amongst the locals and tourists alike.
 
Earlier, the Union government warned the state govt that The virus is still there and one mistake can give the virus a chance to spread among us. People traveling to hill stations are not following Covid-appropriate behavior and it can re-impose restrictions as Covid protocols.
 
ICMR DG Dr. Balram Bhargava said that the pictures from hill stations are frightening. He said people must comply with Covid-appropriate behavior.
