Boost to tourism sector! LG Manoj Sinha inaugurates Peerkho-Mahamaya ropeway in Jammu

Jammu, July 17: Giving the major push to the Jammu & Kashmir Tourism, J&K Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha inaugurated the much-awaited ropeway project in Jammu, this Friday.

During the launch, Lieutenant Governor said that it will help boost tourism in Jammu and Kashmir and give a fillip to the socio-economic development of the region by generating direct and indirect livelihood opportunities for locals." Jammu ropeway will be a major tourist attraction in the region. It will instill new enthusiasm in the tourism sector in Jammu and Kashmir and add to the aesthetics of Jammu city," he said.

"With the opening of the Peerkho-Mahamaya section of the ropeway for the public, the religious tourism circuit connecting three major temples of Jammu city, namely, Peerkho, Mahamaya, and Bahu temple has also been completed. The ropeway is sure to provide a lifetime experience to the tourists," said LG Manoj Sinha.
 
 
 
 
Moreover, he also directed the concerned officers to complete the pending auxiliary works immediately for easy access of tourists and make them operational at the earliest.
 
The Peerkho- Mahamaya ropeway project worth Rs. 75.83 crores comprise two sections. Section-I is between Peerkho (Below Mubarak Mandi) and Mahamaya, with a distance of 1.184 km, whereas section-II lies between Mahamaya temple and Bahu fort, with a distance of 0.485 km.

The project lies amidst picturesque landscapes, where the gushing Tawi flows from behind the Peerkho temple, surrounded by lush green mountains and the distant sound of trains passing through the Shivalik ranges on the Jammu-Baramullah line.
