Dharamsala, July 13: Prime Minister Narendra Modi closely monitored the situation in Himachal Pradesh after heavy rain in HimachalPradesh led to
flash floods in upper Dharamsala in Kangra district. He also informed that authorities are working with the state government to provide possible relief to the affected people.
Authorities are working with the State Government. All possible support is being extended. I pray for the safety of those in affected areas,” PM Modi said.
Apart from Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah also called Chief CM Jairam Thakur to take stock of the situation in Dharamshala. During which he also informed that Home Ministry is continuously monitoring the situation and that all possible help will be provided to the state of Himachal Pradesh. He also said that the centre has also rushed three teams of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) to Himachal Pradesh.
Looking at the situation, Chief Minister Jairam Thakur alerted the officials to prepare for rescue work and any unforeseen situation that may result from the floods hereafter. He also requested the residents and tourists to avoid going near rivers, lakes, and other water bodies.
Flash floods triggered by heavy rains swept away buildings and cars at tourist spots in Himachal Pradesh. The airport in Dharamsala had to be closed due to bad weather. The Dharamshala district administration also instructed tourists to postpone their visit to the region in view of the heavy rains.
