This map was first noticed by Sunny Nehra. Taking the social media account Sunny posted that," Dear @GoogleTrends kindly correct your map. The whole of the Jammu & Kashmir (UT) and Ladakh (UT) belongs to India." He also asked Google to remove those outlines from Arunachal Pradesh conveying it as a disputed region.

On the map, google has shown Pakistan Occupied Kashmir and Aksai Chin as separate entities and not a part of the Indian Union. Furthermore, while Google has also marked the union territories of Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, and the state of Arunachal Pradesh as disputed regions.

This is the third time that Google has done the same mistake. Earlier in February 2020, Google had published a distorted version of the map of India on Google’s population navigation services, Google maps. Before that, in 2013 Google Maps has depicted PoK and Aksai Chin (and parts of Arunachal Pradesh) outside the Indian map.

Yesterday, Twitter showed a distorted map of India on its "Tweep Life" section, depicting Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh as an independent country. It later removed the map after facing the uproar on the internet.
