Drone strike! Two blasts take place at IAF base in Jammu; Full details inside-

Jammu, June 28: After there were reports that the BSF had recovered arms and ammunition were dropped by a Pakistani drone in Jammu last month, two low-intensity blasts, that was carried out by drones, took place inside the technical area of the Air Force Station in Jammu within a five-minute gap on Sunday.

The Indian Air Force (IAF) said, "Two low-intensity explosions were reported early Sunday morning in the technical area of Jammu Air Force Station. One caused minor damage to the roof of a building while the other exploded in an open area.". It added, "There was no damage to any equipment. The investigation is in progress along with civil agencies."
 
 
The bomb blasts occurred in the premises of the technical area of the Jammu airbase. The two blasts were heard within a gap of five minutes, the first blast sound is captured in the CCTV at 1.37 am while the second at 1.43 am. A team of Jammu and Kashmir police, security agencies and forensic experts have rushed to the spot to probe the drone attacks. The India-Pakistan border is about 14 kms from the Air Force station and as per reports, previously weapons have been dropped as far as 12 kms within Indian territory with the help of drones. The drone dropped the bombs at a location close to the Helicopter hangar.

On the other hand, Defence minister Rajnath Singh on Sunday informed that Air Marshal Vikram Singh would soon reach Jammu to take stock of the two blasts that took place in the airport earlier in the day. In a tweet, the Raksha Mantri's Office also informed that the Defence Minister spoke to Vice Air Chief, Air Marshal HS Arora regarding the incident. "Raksha Mantri Shri @rajnathsingh spoke to Vice Air Chief, Air Marshal HS Arora regarding today's incident at Air Force Station in Jammu. Air Marshal Vikram Singh is reaching Jammu to take stock of the situation," the Raksha Mantri's Office tweeted.

According to the reports, the blast took place to damage the assets, equpiments and ammunition of IAF. Besides, IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar on Sunday took review meeting with BCAS, NSG, IAF, CRPF, BSF, CISF, Director Airport, DIG Central Kashmir Range & SSP Budgam to discuss security situation at airport, & countermeasures.
 
 
It should be noted that an FIR registered under Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act after two explosives-laden drones crashed into IAF station at Jammu airport in early hours of Sunday; NIA likely to take over probe.
 
 
On June 18, the BSF had noticed another Pakistani drone in Dera Baba Nanak of Punjab's Gurdaspur district. It should be noted that the BSF had recovered arms and ammunition dropped by a Pakistani drone in Jammu last month. They had recovered an AK-47 rifle, a 9-mm pistol with a magazine and 15 rounds dropped by a Pakistani drone in the Samba sector of Jammu.
