Former Maharashtra home minister Anil Deshmukh is already facing preliminary inquiry by the CBI on the corruption charges levelled against him by former Mumbai police commissioner Param Bir Singh. Param Bir Singh had alleged that Anil Deshmukh had asked Sachin Vaze, who has been arrested by the NIA in the Mukesh Ambani bomb scare case, to collect Rs 100 crore every month, including Rs 40-50 crore from bars and restaurants in Mumbai.

"Anil Deshmukh is facing a CBI probe. Similar or more serious allegations were made by Sachin Vaze against Ajit Pawar. Therefore, he should also be probed by the CBI We have passed a resolution in this regard in our state executive meeting today," state president of BJP Chandrakant Patil told reporters. "The CBI is already probing the matter. We are not afraid of any probes but it shows how the BJP is misusing central agencies for political gains," national spokesperson of NCP Nawab Malik said.
