Terrorist killed during encounter in Jammu and Kashmir's Shopian

New Delhi, June 24: Days after J&K security force killed LeT commander, now Security forces killed another Hizbul-ul-Mujahideen terrorist Sajad Ahmad Bhat during an encounter in the Shopian district of south Kashmir on Wednesday.

J&K police, 44RR, and 178Bn Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) launched a joint cordon and search operation in the Shrimal area based on the tip-off. Police informed that he was given the opportunity to surrender, however, he fired indiscriminately upon the joint search party, which was retaliated leading to an encounter.

According to the J&K police, Sajad Ahmad Bhat was active since September 2020. He was involved in several terror crime cases.
 
 
 
Police further recovered the arms and ammunition including one pistol with magazine, one grenade, and other incriminating materials from the encounter site.

All the recovered materials have been taken into case records for further investigation and to probe his complicity in other terror crimes. During the search operation, one hideout was busted and later on destroyed. In this connection, police have registered a case under relevant sections of law and an investigation has been initiated.
