Lucknow, may 01: Giving a boost to the vaccination drive, Yogi Aditya Nath led UP govt has launched a massive vaccination drive 'Mission June', which aims to inoculate over one crore people against Covid-19 in the next 30 days. It is the biggest vaccination drive planned anywhere in the country.
“Our goal is to give shots to one crore people in the month of June. We have a sufficient amount of vaccine vials available to meet our target,” said the Chief Minister.The CM has also given instructions to the state government officials to ensure that all the sections of the society receive a vaccine shot under 'Mission June'.
As part of the campaign, the UP govt is also going to launch a special vaccination drive from June 15 for bus, taxi, rickshaw drivers, and roadside vendors who were at daily risk of coming in contact with an infected person.
"The government will be holding dedicated camps for large groups like state employees, teachers, trader associations and very large community groups at special Covid vaccination centers and drive-in vaccination camps beside the regular vaccination sites," Additional chief secretary, health and family welfare, Amit Mohan said.
Notably, the government has already arranged special vaccination camps for groups such as journalists, government employees, and members of the judiciary in all the 75 districts of the state.
The govt is also starting free vaccination for all citizens above 18 years of age from today. According to the govt, almost all of the 1.75 lakh slots for vaccination in the 18-44 age category were reported to be booked by Monday evening. Officials also said that over 1.5 lakh registrations in the 45 plus category were also recorded.
Yogi Aditynath urged people to get vaccinated in large numbers and help India defeat COVID-19. "To ensure the safety of the children amid the Coronavirus pandemic, the parents' COVID vaccination will be done on priority. If your child is below 12 years of age, visit the nearest "Parental Special Immunization Booth" and get "Tika Jeet Ka" as soon as possible," he tweeted.
As per the data available in the health dept, over 5,59,144 doses of the COVID vaccine have been administered in UP so far including the 18-44 age group. At least 4,53,121 beneficiaries have taken the first dose of the vaccine while 1,06,422 have received the second dose as well.
