'New govt should be a priority in West Bengal', RSS condemns gruesome violence in severest terms

New Delhi, May 07: Soon after the Election results were announced on May 2, the State of West Bengal is witnessing unprecedented terror in the form of widespread violence in the entire State. Amidst the post poll violence, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) in its official sta tement has condemned the conspired attack on the opposition parties by the state.

 

"The RSS condemns this gruesome violence in severest terms. It is our considered opinion that this post-poll-result violence is contrary to the Bharatiya tradition of Co-existence and respect to the opinion of all, as also it is totally opposed to the very spirit of democracy and one people enshrined in our Constitution. That the role of state administrative machinery was completely passive and they remained mute spectators was the most heinous part of this unabated and inhuman violence. Neither the rioters are seemed to be afraid of anything nor is there any initiative by the state police and administration to control the violence", the statement by Dattatreya Hosabale, Sarkaryavah, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) read.

 

 

 

It further demanded a newly elected government of West Bengal, as its top priority, to effectively establish rule of law by immediately containing violence, to initiate legal action against culprits by arresting them without further delay and also to instil a feeling of safety and confidence in the minds of affected people, and to take necessary steps for their rehabilitation.

 

 

The anti social elements active in this abhorring violence, misbehaved with womenfolk in most barbaric and despicable manner, brutally killed the innocent people and torched the houses, shamelessly looted the shops and malls; and, as a result of the unabated violence, thousands of people including a large number brethren of scheduled castes and tribes, who became shelterless, were forced to go in search of refuge to save their lives and honour. Everywhere from Coochbehar to Sundarbans, there is a widespread fear psychosis among the common people", statement added.

 

 

 

After the results of the Bengal Assembly election were announced on Sunday, the BJP said one of its party offices in Hooghly district was set on fire and some of its leaders, including Suvendu Adhikari, were harassed by TMC activists in other parts of the state. A local BJP leader claimed that TMC workers, shortly after the defeat of their party candidate Sujata Mondal, set on fire the BJP’s Arambagh office. “The TMC, in a bid to avenge the defeat of its candidate, indulged in acts of arson and torched our party office,” the local BJP leader claimed.

 

 

Further it is yesterday that the Bengal wing of BJP claimed that at least six of its workers were killed across the state since the assembly results were announced. The BJP has noted that a hundred party offices and houses of BJP workers were ransacked across the state as the counting progressed, and the trends became clearer. In a tweet, BJP general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya, the party's in-charge for Bengal, said its four workers were killed and over 4,000 houses ransacked in incidents of post-poll violence.
