RPF constable saves couple who were about to fall from running train

Tirupati, May 6: The presence of mind can save several lives. This has been witnessed in Andhra Pradesh railway station. Averting a major accident in Tirupati, a railway police constable saved the lives of a middle-aged couple who almost accidentally fell off a moving train and were about to slip down in the gap between the railway platform and the moving train.

In the early hours of Wednesday morning, when the couple had come to Tirupati for darshan of Lord Balaji but could not wake up on time had hurriedly get off from the D2 coach of the Tirumala express. However, the woman accidentally slipped from the coach and was about to fall in the gap between the moving train and the platform.
 
 
This is where the RPF constable who was noticing all this reacted in a flash of a second and managed to pull the woman to the safety of the platform. Her husband who too was about to lose control in trying to save his wife stepped back into the moving train.
 
Speaking to a news agency, Railway Constable P Satish said, "I was on duty at Tirupati railway station last night. Tirumala express was leaving the station at 4.45 AM. The constable observed that a lady passenger was trying to get down from D2 coach. The constable alerted her not to get down but she did not pay heed. She and her husband almost fell from the train."

Moments later when South central railway hailed the presence of mind of the RPF constable Satish and his efforts in saving the life of the middle-aged couple on Twitter and shared the CCTV footage of the whole episode, later went viral on social media on Wednesday.
 
Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) board, which maintains the Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple at Andhra Pradesh's Tirupati, has stopped issuing tickets for slotted sarvadarshanam from April 12, in wake of Covid pandemic. However, all those who got tickets before April 12 are allowed to visit the temple.
