New Delhi, May 19: Soon after the Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal claimed that the Singapore strain is more effective and could lead to the third wave of infections in India, the Singapore government counter Kejriwal and scolded him for spreading fake news. Giving reality check to the Kejriwal Singapore govt said, "There is no truth in the assertion that there is a new COVID strain in Singapore."
Quoting the Kejriwals tweet, Singapore's diplomatic missions in New Delhi, tweeted, "There is no truth in the assertion that there is a new COVID strain in Singapore. Phylogenetic testing has shown that the B.1.617.2 variant is the prevalent strain in many of the COVID cases, including in children, in recent weeks in Singapore."
Singapore Ministry of Health refuted Kejriwals rubbish claims. They also slammed him saying that the variant prevalent in many Covid-19 cases in recent weeks was the “B.1.617.2 variant, which originated in India”. Singapore's MOH further said, “Phylogenetic testing has shown this B.1.617.2 variant to be associated with several clusters in Singapore.”
Apart from the health Ministry, Singapore Foreign Minister also lashes out at Arvind Kejriwal and asksed him to "stick to facts".
Yesterday, without checking the facts Kejariwal asked the Centre to suspend flights from Singapore because of an alleged new strain, which was suspected to affect children, being detected in that country. He tweeted, "The new form of Covid-19 that has come to Singapore is being said to be extremely dangerous for children. In India, it may come as a third wave. My appeal to the Central government: 1. Air services with Singapore should be canceled with immediate effect 2. Priority on vaccine options should be worked out for children too.”
Following this, Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri also lashed out at Kejriwal for pointing out the govt without even checking the reality. Giving the reality check to Kejriwal, Puri said," Only a few flights are being operated between the two countries under the government's Vande Bharat Mission to bring stranded Indians back, and added that "all precautions are being taken".
It should be noted that Singapore is one of the nations which has to get successful at curbing coronavirus in the country.
