China returns near eastern Ladakh for exercises; Indian forces keeps close watch-

New Delhi, May 19: In a fresh development, China 's People Liberation Army had returned to the training areas near eastern Ladakh for carrying out exercises. These are the same areas where they had transgressed into Indian areas last year.

 

 

"The Chinese have been coming to these areas for many years where they hold their exercises in summertime. Last year also, they had come to these areas in the garb of exercises and diverted from here towards Eastern Ladakh aggressively," according to the reports.

 

Despite the heavily deployed Chinese troops, the Indian forces have also strengthened their deployment in the area as they are keeping a close watch on the Chinese activities in the adjoining sectors. The forces deployed by the Indian side in Ladakh include the Indo Tibetan Border Police, Indian Air Force, and Indian Army which is now at the forward most locations in the sector.

 

 

This is a significant development as both sides are in the middle of a discussion on the disengagement in the eastern Ladakh along the Line of Actual Control. Apart from it, both the countries are still discussing issues related to existing friction points including after the mutual withdrawal of troops from the Pangong lake area by both sides.

 

India is demanding disengagement at the Gogra, Hot Springs, and Depsang plains area by the Chinese Army. However, China has been always reluctant even during the talks in disengaging from the remaining friction points at these points.

 

 

Due to the Indian tactical operations along the southern bank of Pangong Tso, the Indian Army managed to secure disengagement from the Finger area, the two sides are continuing to hold talks for further disengagement and de-escalation from other friction points in the area. India has also made it clear that it would consider deescalation only if there is disengagement by the Chinese from the friction points.

 

India has been guarding up in these areas as there is heavy presence of Chinese troops in spite of conducting several high-level talks.
