KK Shailaja betrayed? Pinarayi Vijayan forms new cabinet, drops KK Shailaja

Thiruvananthapuram, May 18: In a shocking development, forgetting her deeds in the state's battle against the first wave of COVID, Kerala’s LDF-led government excluded Former Kerala Health Minister KK Shailaja and announced a new cabinet of Pinarayi Vijayan led Kerala govt. More interestingly, dropping her from the new cabinet, the LDF govt has given cabinet berth to Kerala CM Vijayan's Son-in-law Mohammad Riyaz.

 

In a statement, CPI(M) state committee said that all "sitting ministers have been dropped, including Health Minister KK Shailaja". Excluding her, from the cabinet, the party has selected her as Party Whip.

 

Shailaja is a retired teacher. She is known for handling and controlling the deadly Nipah virus and coronavirus in the state. Kerala had seen the Nipah virus outbreak twice, in 2018 and 2019. She was hailed and honored by several international agencies including WHO. The UK-based magazine selected Shailaja as the “Top Thinker of the Year 2020”. Her Kerala Pattern was much praised by WHO. In this year's assembly election, she won the seat from Mattannur with a whopping majority of over 60,000 votes.

 

 

 

According to the reports, Pinarayi Vijayan will be sworn in as CM on May 20 at the Central Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram. Along with Pinarayi, a total of 21 ministers will take oath on the day. The new Cabinet will have 11 Ministers- MV Govindan, K Radhakrishnan, KN Balagopal, P Rajeev, VN Vasavan, Saji Cherian, V Sivankutty, Vijayan's son-in-law Mohd Riyas, Dr. R Bindu, Veena George, and V Abdul Rahman.

 

MB Rajeesh has been chosen as the Speaker and former minister TP Ramakrishnan will be the party’s Parliamentary Secretary. The decision has sparked sharp criticism on social media, even from rivals like Congress leader Shashi Tharoor..
