Bengaluru, May 12: The ongoing vaccine shortage has also affected Karnatka's phase 3 vaccination drive. With the shortage of the vaccine in the state, B.S Yediyurappa led the Karnataka govt has gone after the Maharashtra govt and suspended the vaccination drive for the 18-44 age group, for 'now'.

The state health department informed about the news on Wednesday. Taking social media wall Health department said that the Covid vaccine which was procured by the state govt for the vacation of the 18-44 age group, will now be used for the vaccination of beneficiaries who are due for the second dose.
 
 
Moreover, those who have scheduled their appointment for the vaccination will be temporarily suspended from May 14 until further orders. However, this should be noted that the government's this order is only applicable for all government vaccination centers in the state. Private hospitals can inoculate people aged between 18 and 44 years.
 
 
 
 
The state government's decision came just 3 days after it started the vaccine for citizens aged 18-44 across the state. Karnataka began the phase 3 vaccination drive on 10 May. According to information available in the COWIN, Karnataka has a total of 4656 vaccination centers. Over 1,11,03,614 people have received the covid vaccine to date. from that only 3,82,60,431 people have received a second dose of the vaccine.
 
Karnatak is also going to design its website for vaccination booking as after many citizens face difficulty while booking the vaccination slot on the COWIN portal.
 
 
Vaccination shortage has affected vaccination drive going across the country amid the time when the second wave has hit the country. Earlier Maharashtra and other states also suspended vaccination for citizens aged 18-44 across the state due to the vaccination shortage.
