Kupwara, April 09: Busting the Pakistan-sponsored Narco-terror module operating in Jammu and Kashmir, Army and J&K police, break the spine of the Narco-terrorism in U&T and arrested one terrorist associate. Police also recovered a huge quantity of heroin from him.
According to the security forces, the terrorist’s associate has been identified as Mukhtar Husain Shah of Panjtaran Karnah in Kupwara, Kashmir. A total of 9 kg heroin was recovered from his possession.
SSP Kupwara Dr. G.V. Sundeep said, “We have busted Pakistan-sponsored narco module. One person namely Mukhtar Shah is arrested. We recovered 9kg heroin worth Rs 50-60 crore international market value.” “We were tracing this group from last one week. Mukhtar was in touch with Pak-sponsored terrorists. Those drug smugglers provide financial assistance to terrorist groups in Kashmir,” he added.
According to the police, the module was in touch with Pakistan-based terror handlers and it was using the drug money to fund terror-related activities in the Valley. It was also misguiding and motivating the local youth of the valley to join militant ranks. An FIR has been registered in this regard and a Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been formed for a thorough investigation.
"Module was in close connection with Pakistan-based terror handlers involved in the drug trade and financially assisting active terrorists of Valley. Case registered, SIT constituted to ascertain details of accused' ties with terror outfits and other anti-national elements," the Kupwara Police said.
Reacting to the news, Minister of State for Home Affairs, Government of India G Krishan Reddy appreciated the Kupwara police and said, I commend the efforts of @JmuKmrPolice in busting Pakistan-sponsored narco-terror module in Karnah forest, Kupwara, Jammu & Kashmir and exposing the nexus between militants and the narco-terror units. Contraband Consignment Worth Rs.60 Crores was recovered in the Operation.
