New Delhi, April 23: On the occasion of earth day, India and United States deepen their climate goals at the climate summit held by the US. Being a Climate- responsible developing countries Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Joe Biden lunch India-US climate and clean energy Agenda 2030 partnership.
The clean energy partnership initiative was announced to mobilise investments and enable green collaborations. While launching the Partnership, PM Modi said "President Biden and I are launching the 'India-US climate and clean energy Agenda 2030 partnership'. Together, we will help mobilise investments, demonstrate clean technologies, and enable green collaborations."
The Partnership will aim to mobilize finance and speed clean energy deployment; demonstrate and scale innovative clean technologies needed to decarbonize sectors including industry, transportation, power, and buildings; and build capacity to measure, manage, and adapt to the risks of climate-related impacts. The Partnership will proceed along two main tracks: the Strategic Clean Energy Partnership and the Climate Action and Finance Mobilization Dialogue, which will build on and subsume a range of existing processes.
Besides that PM Modi also emphasised the need to take concrete action for humanity to combat Climate Change he said, we need such action at a high speed, on a large scale, and with a global scope. He said India is taking many bold steps on clean energy, energy efficiency, afforestation, and bio-diversity to combat climate change.He said the country has already declared its goal of installing 450 gigawatts of renewable energy capacity by the end of the decade
Modi said India's per capita carbon footprint is 60 percent lower than the global average. Prime Minister said India was encouraging global initiatives like International Solar Alliance, LeadIT, and the Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure.
He also added that India-US collaboration on clean energy is expected to play an important role in helping India fulfill its ambitious renewable energy goal of reaching 450 Gigawatt by 2030.
Remembering Swami Vivekananda's word during the summit, PM Modi said, he called on us to "Arise, awake and stop not until the goal is reached." PM also appealed to the world leaders to make this a “decade of action” against climate change.
He also urged nations to adopt sustainable lifestyles and guiding philosophy of back to basics as an important pillar of economic strategy for the post-Covid era..
