Record Breaking Milestone! MoRTH construct 37 km of Highways per day in FY 2020-21

New Delhi, Apr 2: The Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has achieved the record-breaking milestone of constructing 37 kilometers of highways per day during the financial year 2020-21, which is unprecedented. In order to appreciate the effort, the Union minister for Road Transport and Highways and MSME, Nitin Gadkari felicitated the officials of MoRTH on Apr 1 and presented them the letters of appreciation.

 

 

 

According to the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, tremendous progress has been achieved in building of National Highways across the country in the last few years by the Ministry. The Union Minister said on the occasion that this would not have been possible without dedication and team work of the officials and other stakeholders. He said that these achievements are unprecedented and have no parallel in any other country in the world.

 

 

According to the Ministry, over the last 7 years, the length of National Highways has gone up by 50 per cent from 91,287 km as per the record of Apr 2014 to 1,37,625 km as recorded on Mar 20 2021. The Total budgetary outlay increased by 5.5 times, from INR 33,414 Cr in FY 2014-15 to INR 1,83,101 Cr in FY 2021-22. The sanctioned amount has increased by 126 per cent in FY 2021 over FY 2020, despite COVID 19 related impact and the sanctioned length in kilometers has also increased by 9 per cent in FY 2021 over FY 2020.

 

 

 

 

 

The average annual project award of annual average award length during FY 2015 to FY 2021 has increased by 85 per cent, compared to FY 2010 to FY 2014. The average annual construction of average annual construction length during FY 2015 to FY 2021 has increased by 83 per cent, compared to FY 2010 to FY 2014. The cumulative cost of the ongoing project works has increased by 54 per cent at the end of FY 202, compared to FY 2020.
